ALS is a fatal disease that kills motor neuron cells causing muscles to degenerate. People diagnosed with ALS lose the ability to walk, speak and breathe. After 100 years of discovery, there is still no cure and no effective therapy. Through recent scientific discoveries, ALS is better understood today than ever before.
“It is through research funding that ALS Canada instills hope and courage in people living with this devastating disease. Hope and courage are the only things that keep them fighting,” says Cameron.
A person living with ALS places a financial and emotional burden on their family and caregivers. Made possible through donations, provincial ALS societies provide counseling and vital services to these people and their families in efforts to improve their quality of life. Proceeds from the Auction for ALS will go towards funding research and helping people living with ALS.
