Intelligence Men watching Blitz editor's residence
On Wednesday noon around 12:10 pm, an unidentified man called the Executive Editor of Weekly Blitz from the local cell phone numer 0172-2464315 and said, he was willing to speak to the editor of the newspaper regarding placing an advertisement.
Later, Weekly Blitz editor, Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury called that number and the person introduced himself to be from an 'intelligence Agency'. He said, his name was Musharraf Hussain.
Then he continued saying, "government is following you as we are suspicious about your movements".
He said, "why you shifted from the address of your newspaper"?
The editor suggested him to go through the content of a case lodged with the Paltan Police Station on February 22, 2009 when the Blitz office was attacked by a group of thugs led by one Shamim from DGFI [Directorate of Forces Intelligence]
The man was very harsh on the editor and said, we are watching you under instructions from the high ups.
The Blitz editor told him that the entire content of the conversation will be published in Blitz. The above mentioned 'intelligence man' suddenly cut the line.
The editor called him again and the cell phone was unanswered. Minutes later, executive editor of the newspaper called the number and someone picking up from the other side said, the number was belonging to a 'Phone-Fax Shop' [business center].
Such attitude of the so-called intelligence man and his open threat of saying government is following the Blitz editor is leaving reasonable doubts in the minds of all.
None of the higher officials of the DGFI ever contacted the Blitz editor will any clarification on this matter.
