"Green Giant" to Participate in Automotive X Prize

PRLog (Press Release) - Jun. 9, 2009 - Sponsored by Progressive Insurance, the Automotive X Prize is an international contest with the aim of jump-starting a new generation of viable, super-fuel-efficient vehicles.  The independent competition is to see who can design, build, and bring to market vehicles that get a minimum of 100 miles per gallon.  In addition to the significant technological challenges, designers must create vehicles that people want to buy, can be mass-produced, and meet market needs for price, size, capability, safety, and performance.

Physics Lab of Lake Havasu, http://www.physicslablh.com, is focused on exploiting regenerative technology, and showing that heavy vehicles especially, can benefit from Electric Vehicle (EV) technology.  The Green Giant is a 4-wd full-size SUV that is entered in the Mainstream category of the Progressive Automotive X PRIZE and the "One Gallon Challenge". The drive train is fully electric, and is charged by weight exploiting Regen-EV-Shocks, solar thermal, waste heat/steam, photovoltaics, diesel, hydrogen and overnight grid charging of batteries.
