June 9, 2009 - PRLog -- Nyack, NY-Nyack's fourth annual Art Walk will begin on Friday, June 19 at 6 PM and continue through Sunday, June 21.  The event will highlight a diverse group of nationally known artists including noted Hudson River artist John Beerman and is sponsored by the Merchants' Committee of Friends of the Nyacks.

The opening evening features the unveiling of "Half Moon" an original oil painting by Beerman which will be presented to President Obama in September as a gift from The American Heritage Rivers Alliance.  The "Half Moon" was the ship in which Henry Hudson sailed in 1609 when he discovered the body of water now known as the Hudson River.  Beerman is a direct descendant of the explorer and the honorary chairman of this year's event.

Other notables who will be participating at Art Walk include:
•   David Derr - Gallery and Studio magazine calls him "an almost dauntingly versatile artist. Each work is stamped indelibly by his singular sensibility, calling to mind modernist predecessors such as Paul Klee and contemporaries like Lucas Samaras." Derr has exhibited extensively n the United States and Europe, most recently being invited to display a digital work at the EuroNanoForum 2009 in Prague.
•   Martin Glick - An award-winning sculptor, whose works are on display in many private and corporate collections, including the UCONN Medical Center in Connecticut. He has been commissioned by the Haitian government to do a life size rendering entitled “The Battle of Savannah" to honor the harbor of Port au Prince
•   Natasha Rabin - Her portraits were described by The Wall Street Journal as "bold and direct yet conveying the essence of the individual with subtlety."  For this event she will feature one of her newest paintings "Dreaming in Red."
•   John Laurenzi - Recently received praise in the national publication "Art Business News" for his painting "Passionate Response' which was displayed in the Members' Exhibit at Rockland Center for the Arts.  His new miniature series will be featured in Art Walk.
•   Linda Sabaj -An award-winning photographer, her photo “GW Bridge” recently won 'Best in Show' at Ringwood Manor, NJ and can be seen at the upcoming Hopper House Exhibit 'Top to Bottom: A Hudson River Arts Map Installation'. She has also exhibited at Haverstraw Arts Alliance, GAGA in the Art Expo and Hopper House.
•   Janet Carlson - This distinguished writer is the Beauty & Health Director at Town & Country magazine, and author of a memoir, Quick, Before the Music Stops: How Ballroom Dancing Saved My Life (Broadway Books, July, 2009). She has written articles for O, Elle, Redbook, and Departures, among other publications.
After the kick-off ceremony on Friday evening,  Art Walk will be open to 9 PM. Visitors can stroll through this quaint village adjacent to the Hudson River, enjoying the nationally renowned artists at the "gallery" venues and sampling the Nyack nightlife and restaurants.

On Saturday, June 20, the artists will be available in the participating shops from noon till 9 PM.  A special event is scheduled at Nyack Center on Broadway at Depew from 1-3PM.  At that time, members of Children of the After School Program will exhibit a variety of interpretive art reflecting a Quadricentennial theme.  On Sunday, Art Walk runs from noon till closing time at 5 PM.
