Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States and is a celebration of our national flag and everything it represents. It’s also a time to remember and honor military men and women who defend our flag and our country.
During the ceremony the National Pause for the Pledge of Allegiance will also be observed. This is an annual patriotic event to encourage all citizens and communities across the nation to pause and recite the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:00 p.m. local time. The Pledge serves as an oath of loyalty to the nation of the United States of America.
The ceremony on O’Neal Plaza will include Mayor Mickey Thompson welcoming everyone to the ceremony and the presentation of colors by the City of Douglasville Police Department Honor Guard. At exactly 7:00 p.m. there will be a National Pause for the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the national anthem and then a poetry reading.
