Jun. 9, 2009 - Twenty years and going strong, is the theme of this exciting event that's become a Southern Ca. tradition, where celebrities and regular folks come together to "Party With A Purpose." Its no secret that HB Barnum, better known as "The Man Behind The Music" has a long history of service to L.A. charities and goodwill causes worldwide. HB's bio is hard to believe, it should take several life times for one person to do so much. Starting out as a child actor, HB worked in early radio and even movies, before age 10, as a teen, he began performing with all of the early Rock n Roll stars that emerged at that time, playing every instrument , writing songs and singing with groups like "The Robins", who became "The Coasters". HB 's fame really grew in the 50's and 60's as a producer , arranger and conductor, he worked with the biggest and the best, including Frank Sinatra, Sammy, Dean Martin, Etta James and Sam Cooke just to name a few. He later had a long run with "Motown", working with all of their biggest stars, in between he help launch the careers of 'The Ojays" and Lou Rawls. HB has conducted at the Academy Awards, The Grammy's, The American Music Awards, The Soul Train Awards,etc. HB Barnum may be best known to many as the force behind "The Queen of Soul" , Aretha Franklin, for over 35 years he has been her Music Director. Recently HB has added a huge Mile-Stone to his amazing carreer as the Musical Director with Aretha Franklin for the Inauguration of Barack Obama . There are hundreds of seniors (many over 90 and even 100 years old) that benefit from the proceeds of this project each year, through a nutrition program, and special events each year.
