I've been making alternative rock for years. Never released a thing. Bands would come, and bands would go, and things always seemed to fall through the cracks. Although little known today, I'm not playing shows, or touring, or doing what you'd expect as an independant artist. I'm creating electronica tracks in my home studio.
It's a sure sign that the music industry is changing; online releases vs. the traditional way.
Sure there's millions doing the same thing, but which ones successfully?
It's literally something you can do in your spare time, and if you're good, you've got great opportunities.
Most online music distributors want money upfront which isn't always bad, but if you're broke, there's still some that don't. Most will give 50 to 100% of your sales to YOU. And it can be any genre of course. Here's where I got started... http://www.beatsdigital.com/
Maybe there's nothing special about it, and I'm excited to do it, but you just never know
who knows what this day in age, and sharing information is never without progress.
