Miss Teenage California crowned in Los Angeles

Brittany Chen a vivacious 17 year old senior is crowned the 30th Miss Teenage California at the state finals held April 17-19th in Los Angeles.

June 8, 2009 - PRLog -- 165 of the most beautiful and accomplished teens competed for the coveted crown of Miss Teenage California 2009 at the 30th annual state pageant, held April 19th in Los Angeles.

The large and enthusiastic crowd brought many signs, and noisemakers and cheered for the favorite contestants as the field was first narrowed to the Top 30 then Top 10. A Q&A session assisted the judges as they cast their final ballot.

Brittany Chen, Miss Teen Cerritos was crowned the 30th Miss Teenage California at the state finals held April 17-19, 2009 in Los Angeles, before a large and enthusiastic crowd. She is the daughter of Jeff Chen and Ingrid Huang. Brittany is 5’7” tall with dark brown hair and brown eyes. She is a senior at Gretchen Whitney High School and carries a 3.7619 un- weighted G.P.A.

First runner up was Miss Teen Capital City, Kelsey Wessing.  From Folsom Kelsey has blonde hair and blue eyes. She is a  student at Folsom High School. Kelsey has cheered for six years in the Folsom Youth Program, and all four years at Folsom High. She plans to major in early childhood development at San Diego State University. She is the recipient of a $4,000 College Scholarship for being named first runner up.

Second runner up was Miss Teen South San Bernardino County, natasha Martinez.  Natasha makes her home in Chino Hills where she is a student at St. Lucy's Priory High School.  She is 5'6" tall with brown hair and brown eyes. She is a member of the Kiwins, Spanish club, and a spokesperson for "Adopt Me" Program, a Latin American Coalition and non-profit organization. She plans to attend upon graduation Pepperdine University or the University of Southern California, pursuing a degree in Broadcast Journalism. As this year's 2nd runner up she is the recipient of a $3,000 College Scholarship.

Third runner up was Miss Teen Sacramento County, Erica Abke. From Sacramento, Erica stands 5'3" in height, with brown hair and brown eyes.  Her plans are to attend the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco. As this year's 3rd runner up she is the recipient of a $2,000 college scholarship,

Fourth runner up was Miss Teen Walnut Creek, Kira Kazantsev. Kira is 17 and a senior at Las Lomas High School.   She stands 5'6" tall feet tall with brown hair and green eyes. She was elected Student Body President at her school for 2008-09 and attended the California Girls State Convention, and National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C. Her educational and career goals are to attend New York University, double majoring in International Political Science and Russian, while minoring in Dance. She is the recipient of a $1,000 college scholarship.

Brittany is an AP Scholar, member of the National Honor Society, New Student Orientation Counselor, and was class Secretary at her school for 2007-08. She has been a volunteer with the St. Francis Medical Center, American Red Cross Treasurer, and member of the Key Club.  Her talents and hobbies include ballet, Chinese Folkloric Dance, Figure Skating, Singing, Reading, and Biking.  She is fostering two dreams. One is to be the C.E.O. of a corporation while the other is to become a psychiatrist.

The new Miss Teenage California wins a $10,000 college scholarship to the college of her choice, or has the option of choosing a $7,000 Cash Prize. She also wins a $1,000 Shopping Spree at the Beverly Center in Beverly Hills, and will compete in the Miss Teen Earth-United States Pageant in Las Vegas. Brittany won an additional $1,000 college scholarship for winning the Most Likely to Succeed Award. She is the recipient of several other gifts for being named the new Miss Teenage California.
