Graphic novels for kids are a growing category in children’s publishing. Librarians and teachers have known for years that the use of graphic novels can help reluctant readers, especially boys, learn to love reading. The bestselling Wimpy Kid and Bone series have only increased the popularity of the genre. A panel entitled “Tapping Into the Growing Market for Graphic Novels” was devoted to the subject at the 2008 BookExpo. Booksellers should never dismiss the self-published graphic novelist.
