QRock Radio launches from Myrtle Beach South Carolina

PR Log (Press Release) – Jun 06, 2009 – Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Internet Radio Station QRock Radio debuted on May 21, 2009 with a unique twist to other Internet radio stations. The operation's studios are located at popular shopping, dining and entertainment destination, Broadway at the Beach and features live personalities. "We have an open door policy here. If you are coming to Broadway at the Beach, you can come right in and see us. We'll put you on the world wide web to say hello to listeners across the planet.", QRock Radio manager John Van Pelt stated at the grand opening.

QRock Radio is a Retro radio station that features the music of the 60's, 70's and 80's, with personalities from the legacy Myrtle Beach radio station, WKZQ, known as Rock 102 during the 70's and 80's. Everyone on the air has worked at the Q at some time during the 24 year run from 1973 to 1997.

Station promotions will include contests for listeners to win trips to Myrtle Beach, live broadcasts of local music performances held at Broadway at the Beach, and online activities on social networking site, Facebook. "You can even Twitter your requests to the DJ on the air", stated Banana Jack Murphy, QRock Radio personality.

One major event coming this summer will be the Rock 102 radio reunion, to be held in Myrtle Beach September 24-27. The staff of Rock 102 will be in town for the largest radio reunion in Myrtle Beach's history. The weekend will feature a live music concert fundraiser for South By Southeast Music Feast, a Myrtle Beach organization that assists children in need of musical instruments for school classes.
