SWA Launches New Online Discussion Forum

SWA Launches New Discussion Forum to Exchange Views on Global Issues

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jun 05, 2009 -
NEW YORK, New York (March 30, 2009) Student World Assembly has launched its new, updated online discussion forum. The new forum provides SWA members, advocates, and chapters with the environment they need to hold productive, stimulating, and lively online discussions of important global issues. The forum is essential to Student World Assembly’s mission of enabling students across the globe to exchange ideas and viewpoints on issues that are important to them and their communities.
The new forum will encompass several innovative features that will make communication between SWA members both easier and more productive. First, each member will be able to create a personal profile detailing his or her personal information, activist interests, favorite causes and a picture if they would like to include it.

The new forum will be a resource for direct action as well as for discussion. Topics of discussion will be divided regionally under Current News, or by issue under Pressing Global Issues. Discussions will include pressing global issues elected by SWA members at past International Conventions, including poverty and human trafficking among many other issues. Members can also propose new topics for discussion.

Information about upcoming SWA events and opportunities for activism will be provided on the ‘Take Action Now’ page. The forum is currently available in nine languages, and members should feel free to post in their native language if they feel more comfortable doing so.

The free exchange of diverse ideas, opinions, and philosophies is essential to the success of Student World Assembly and forms a key part of its democratic vision. The discussion forum will be a resource for sincere, open, and productive dialogue about the issues that matter to SWA members.

Eli Nofzinger, the SWA Coordinator of Program Development and Growth, who helped create the duiscussion forum said, "The launch of new discussion forum represents a major step for SWA, we hope that all of our members will take advantage of this fantastic resource by sharing their opinions and ideas on this new forum."

To register for the forum please create a new login and sign up at: http://www.studentworldassembly.org/discussions/register.php
