PRLog (Press Release) - Jun 05, 2009 -
Waynesville, NC – Appalachian Antique Hardwoods, LLC has been selected to be the primary provider of rustic elements for DIY Network’s 2009 Blog Cabin.  The Blog Cabin will be built in The Preserve at Little Pines, an 1800 acre mountain community located just north of Asheville, North Carolina.  Throughout the building process, Appalachian Antique Hardwoods will use their 15 years of custom home building experience to support DIY’s team of experts with design and installation techniques on the use of reclaimed, recycled and renewed building materials.  “We are extremely honored to be recognized and selected as the provider of green certified antique wood materials by DIY Network.  The partnership allows both parties access to unique opportunities while doing something good for the environment” says Zac Guy, President of Appalachian Antique Hardwoods.

DIY’s Blog Cabin premiered in 2007 and is truly an interactive multimedia experience following the simple design idea of:  You Design It, We Build It, and You Could Win It!  This ground-breaking interactive series asks internet users to determine the design and features on a real vacation home.  The DIY Network www.diynetwork.com and their team of home improvement experts then build the home according to viewer specifications.  Once completed, the home will be given away to one lucky sweepstakes winner.  The 2009 Blog Cabin project will offer over 20 opportunities for the public to cast votes and to review the results.  The “citizen designed” vacation home will be documented in a 10-part TV series premiering on Thursday, August 20 at 9 p.m. ET.

“We researched and interviewed several providers of antique building materials throughout Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia and found that Appalachian Antique Hardwoods had the strongest reputation, highest quality and the best overall product selection of any provider.  Having their strength and depth of design knowledge is a definite asset to the network”, says Cam McLemore, Project Manager of the 2009 DIY Blog Cabin.

Appalachian Antique Hardwoods offers over three thousand recycled products to architects, builders, interior designers and homeowners from around the world.  Their large client base provides Appalachian Antique Hardwoods a unique opportunity to use their experience, as a vehicle to educate and promote the benefits of Green Building techniques while becoming environmental stewards.  Each product contributes valuable points toward Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (L.E.E.D.), NAHB Green Built, and Healthy Built certifications.  Appalachian’s professional green-certified staff has successfully designed and completed over 3,500 reclaimed wood projects, making them a premier leader in the use of antique wood building materials.
