FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Jun 04, 2009 – The Indonesian Kennel club “Perkinjaya” an FCI affiliate, hosted their first National IPO Championships on the 25th of April 2009. Mr Yudi Sutanto has been a significant driving force in propelling Indonesia’s fledgling IPO sporting community towards hosting an event of this magnitude. Dog Sport is relativily young in Indonesia and the country’s K9 community is hungry for knowledge.

“Indonesia is passionately pushing for IPO sport to grow and become a large event as it is the world over and we wanted our first major event to be facilitated by world class experts. After careful deliberation, Mr John Mac Donald and Mr Kris Kotsopoulos were selected from Australia. I must say we did indeed make an excellent selection”

The event bought together Indonesia’s finest handlers and helpers from the Police, Military and Air force K9 units, as well as private sporting dog owners, trainers and handlers. This special event was hosted not only as an IPO trial but was mindfully orchestrated to facilitate an in depth helper and handler seminar for the entire Indonesian working dog community.

“I had no idea that this event would be so large and accommodate so many passionate trainers, competitors, and law enforcement K9 units. John and I were rather surprised to say the least. We were honored to be selected to host Indonesia’s largest ever working k9 event”
.........Kris Kotsopoulos “Von Forell International”

The event commenced on Tuesday the 21st of April and continued for five full days, with the National IPO Championship trial being the final event.
Temperatures peaked at 38c with very high humidity levels. In addition to Mr John Mac Donald and Mr Kris Kotsopoulos, Mr Michael Schweikert from Germany was also present. Mr Schweikert was invited to attend the event in order to demonstrate his company’s market-leading range of dog training products and their functionality. As a result of his presentations, Schweikert will now be supplying their products to Indonesia.

“I was very happy to be invited to the Indonesian IPO trial and seminar and I trust that everyone enjoyed themsleves. I hope that all attendees received a thorough understanding of the use and function of our entire Schweikert product range. My staff and I at Schweikert are always available to answer any questions our customers may have, and we are here to help so please feel free to communicate at any time”.

Mr Herri T. Kusuma, Club Treasurer of Dog Sport Indonesia, described the event as incredibly successful, and commented that all participants left highly excited, moved, touched, and inspired to integrate their newfound knowledge into their training programmes.
Mr Herri also expressed further interest to see both Kris Kotsopoulos and John Mac Donald return to Indonesia in the future to further develop the capabilities of the local working K9 community. Perhaps not surprisingly there has been an influx of calls to establish when John and Kris will return for their next seminar, as there were many disappointed people who were unable to attend the event.

“With events of this magnitute one always faces possible sceptisism from one participant or another, but very quickly any apprehension felt by participants was replaced by an atmosphere of incredible excitement and deep interest. Participants found the teachings of Mr. Mac Donald, the Australian United Sport Dog Clubs Judge, and Mr.Kotsopoulos, CEO of Von Forell International, to be not only well presented, but to produce almost immediate positive changes in the behaviour of their dogs. Not only was the depth of their knowledge and understanding of canine behaviour and genetics impressive, but their philosophy and methodology was deep, easily understood and well communicated.

It is fair to say that the universal opinion of attendees to this event and seminar is that they feel far better equipped to make massive steps forward with their training due to a better understanding of what they are seeing, how to achieve their individual training goals, and how to harness 100% of their canine’s potential. Thank you so much John and Kris”.

John Mac Donald is a familiar face in the Australasian Schutzhund scene. He has been an active participant in IPO for 27 years, and has worked internationally many times as a law enforcement-training consultant. John holds the position of Director of Judges with Australian United Sport dog Clubs Inc and is President of the National Rottweiler Council (Australia).

“I was deeply honoured to be asked to judge Indonesia’s National IPO trial, and was amazed at the level of hospitality and professionalism I encountered during my stay . Whilst IPO is still young in Indonesia, the level of performance was certainly admirable. The level of sportsmanship, commitment, and competition shown by my Indonesian friends is World class, and for this, all the Indonesian competitors should be extremely proud. I predict world class results from Indonesia within the next five years with their continued effort and diligence”

.............Mr John Mac Donald, AUSC JUDGE
