Australian Workers are Generous, Even During Tough Times

Australia’s leading online employee rewards provider, Power2Motivate, has identified Australian workers as continuing high levels of generosity even during the economic crisis.

PRLog (Press Release) - Jun 03, 2009 -
Power2Motivate provides employers with an online platform to administer an employee rewards system, based upon the employee being rewarded with points for achieving performance goals and demonstrating company values.  Employees can then redeem those points for a range of products or experiences, or even donate the equivalent amount to charity.

Nathan Kitchner, General Manager of Power2Motivate, has discovered an interesting phenomenon with the spending patterns of points from the 750,000 employees current receiving rewards points from the system – during times of economic crisis their generosity towards charitable causes has actually increased.

“In Australia, we support several charities including Assistance Dogs Australia,” said Kitchner today.

“Client’s employees are provided with the opportunity to donate their rewards directly to the charity, and what we have found is that there has been an increase in the number of employees using their rewards for corporate charitable donations since the economic crisis began.”

“It seems that people continue to be generous and demonstrate a willingness to support worthy causes, even when times are economically tough.”

“Power2Motivate provides an excellent platform for corporate giving in this way, because the employee can make a donation to their nominated charity without that donation hitting their own home budget – because it comes from the employee’s additional rewards, not their salary,”

“Many employers are moving towards utilising a rewards platform, like Power2Motivate, in order to continue to engage and motivate employees during tough economic times,”

“In many ways, it is more important now for employers to focus on engagement and motivation, than it was during the boom period – there may be many more people looking for work, but the critical factor is about working smarter and encouraging your current workforce to be more productive,”

“We are grateful that Power2Motivate had the foresight to include Assistance Dogs Australia as part of the corporate giving section of their employee rewards program,” said Richard Lord – Top Dog from Assistance Dogs Australia.
“The donations we receive are important for training and being able to place more assistance dogs which allow recipients to have greater mobility, gain confidence and have higher self-esteem,” Lord said.
“It has been a delightful surprise that the donations received from employees on the Power2Motivate platform have actually increased since the financial crisis again – we cannot thank people enough for their generosity,”

Power2Motivate is a free online platform for employers to manage a rewards program.
