June 3, 2009 - PRLog -- Dan Orr, of Divers Alert Network (DAN) describes the experience. “We all benefited from his intensive work with us. While the process was challenging, it was well worth the results we got, and no one could have done it better than John. When he offered to help develop leaders deeper in the organization, we jumped at the opportunity.”

“The one-on-one coaching he had done had been highly beneficial for those of us at the top. But the First 5 TM group-coaching program made it possible for leaders at all levels to experience the benefits of his process. The great thing about his program was how simple and immediately beneficial it was. The things he taught us could be applied right away,” Dan Orr says.

The Quotidian Group’s First 5 program was delivered in half-day sessions with about a month between each session with three groups of leaders participating independently: the senior executives, their direct reports, and the front-line managers.

Underpinning the program for Divers Alert Network, John Ficken used the metaphor of The Current.  It was not only an easy metaphor to understand, but it was even more pertinent to divers who work in underwater currents.  And it was also an effective way to integrate and apply the concepts that ran through all of the sessions.

Dan Orr speaks of the benefits accomplished for Divers Alert Network. “One of the main benefits of the Quotidian Group’s First 5 program is that it took us to a new level of teamwork we had previously not been able to imagine.  By helping each team member identify his or her strengths and weaknesses, Quotidian Group helped our employees better communicate and build much deeper trust with each other at all levels of the organization. We even saw a new level of communication emerge among our board of directors.”

He goes on to say. “Another benefit of the separate teams working together was giving them each a sense of identity, unity and focus to work on projects that required interdepartmental initiative. We immediately took advantage of this when a new major project put additional stress on our staff.  The innovative skills that we learned in team building and communication have been the determining factor in staying on top of it.”

Dan says, “We highly recommend John Ficken and his organization, The Quotidian Group. The program he and his colleagues delivered has been enormously helpful to me and the Divers Alert Network as we navigate these difficult and stressful economic conditions.”
