June 2, 2009 - PRLog -- (May 12, 2009, Denver, CO)- Blake McGrath is best known from season 1 of "So You Think You Can Dance." He has used his popularity from that show to branch out as an entertainer by starting acting and singing. By the time he was 21 he had already danced with Madonna, Britney Spears, and Destiny's Child. He has also appeared in commercials for Gap, iPod and Hummer while appearing and choreographing in a commercial for Old Navy. He also starred on the hit MTV show "Dancelife."

Being used to the camera, Blake was a natural during his dancer interview with JigTV. On "So You Think You Can Dance" he learned a lot because you have to be very versatile in many styles of dance. "Dancelife" was a lot less stressful because it wasn't a competition, they just follow you around to show the world what life is like for a dancer. He says he liked the way he was portrayed on the show because it was a fairly accurate portrayal of who he is, though that is not always the case.

Currently Blake McGrath isn't really dancing but he is working on his music. He is trying to release an album, though it wasn't his ultimate goal he always had a passion for it. Being behind the scenes with artists gave him a great insight into the business. He tells the online dance community that being behind everything can make you realize you want to be appreciated more and get a little bit more of the spotlight. Still he stays grounded and know who you are, partying too much can help you fade out quickly.

In order to stay relevant he encourages aspiring dancers to stay driven and have different goals. To stay grounded you need to have a goal all the time so that when you accomplish something you have something new to work on. What defines him as a dancer is his versatility and he got his style from all sorts of backgrounds in dance. He took many classes, if he hadn't taken a class he would make sure he take it. One way to get a quick lesson is to take an online dance class.

Blake encourages people to take control. Set your own image and let it be you so that it really is a passion rather than being something that you're not. You have to put everything else aside to make it in the dance world. It really is a lot of work and it is important to keep a good circle of friends to keep you motivated.
