The West Michigan Group 703, Civil Air Patrol will be conducting an Open House and ‘Fly Day’ Event dubbed “OPERATION:
During the open house CAP will provide demonstrations on model rocketry, as well as ground‐based search and rescue techniques. CAP will be providing glider and airplane orientation rides to qualified Civil Air Patrol cadets. “The Civil Air Patrol is called ‘One of the best kept secrets in the United States’. We’re looking to change that by hosting
events that increase public awareness of the organization,”
Cadet Programs are open to ‘tweens’ and teens from the age of 12 to 18. Senior Membership is also available to all
adults over the age of 18.

Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, is a nonprofit organization with 56,000 members nationwide. CAP performs 90 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center
and was credited by the AFRCC with saving 91 lives in fiscal year 2008. Its volunteers also perform homeland security, disaster relief and counter-drug missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. The members play a leading role in aerospace education
