FIMBank plc sponsors major environmental initiative

The campaign centered around the ‘Battery Buster Competition’, which was open to all school children. Between the 30th March and the 31st May, students were encouraged to collect used batteries and deposit them in designated bins at their respective school. The response to the campaign was beyond expectations, with an estimated half a million batteries collected over the two-month period. The batteries collected will be subsequently transported by WasteServ to properly equipped disposal sites overseas.

Commenting on the success of the campaign, Ms Margrith Lütschg-Emmenegger, President of FIMBank p.l.c. stated: “The children’s response to this initiative, together with the encouragement given by the schools and the parents, was simply amazing. It was a very fulfilling experience for us, as a bank operating from Malta, to witness the excitement generated by this campaign throughout the islands, not to mention the practical result of having all these batteries disposed of in an environmentally friendly way by our partner in this initiative, WasteServ”.
