Where Their Needs End and Yours Begin: For the MidLife Caregiver

For the past ten years Ellen Besso has been the caregiver for her mother who has Alzheimer’s disease. As life coach and writer she specializes in helping women navigate the challenges of midlife, including caring for their elders. Ellen holds a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology, is a Martha Beck Certified Coach and a Registered Clinical Counsellor.

“Where Their Needs End and Yours Begin: For the MidLife Caregiver” is an e-book which focuses primarily on the women behind the caregiving role. As the chapters unfold Ellen brings clarity to the emotions and thoughts, awareness of physical, mental and spiritual needs. She examines the dynamics behind the changing parent-daughter relationship, feelings of guilt & loneliness, and how being in menopause while caregiving adds to the feeling of stress. An accompanying workbook provides exercises specially designed to compliment the content of each chapter.

Ellen Besso writes that there will need to be “A new way of living” not just for the caregiver herself but also in the way that society views eldercare. “As our aging population grows and we become more vocal about what’s needed for elder care, society will alter its thinking, attitudes and beliefs, and consequently awareness will increase significantly.”

Currently caregiving is ‘invisible work’ but this needs to change. The caregiver often comes full circle; she entered her formative years as a woman tending for her young children and then in her forties and fifties finds herself again in the caring role. In fact those middle years are meant to be the pivotal point when she is able to experience her own life to the fullest.

Where Their Needs End and Yours Begin: For the MidLife Caregiver by Ellen Besso is available in an earth friendly ebook format. To preview and for purchase information go to http://www.ellenbesso.com
