June 1, 2009 - PRLog -- The lecture theatre has been equipped with a High Definition multipoint system that can link internally on the Trust’s own IT network and externally on ISDN lines. This enables live two-way training sessions and medical operations to be televised and viewed anywhere in the world.

Saville sourced the HD cameras, codecs and monitor screens, which were built into bespoke medical trolleys. As fully mobile High Definition systems, they enable any of the operating theatres to link and broadcast live operations or consultations to the main lecture theatre for trainee doctors, or to specialist consultants and nurses anywhere in the world.

The units can be connected to other specialist theatre equipment to allow remote participants to see and monitor individual equipment, as if they were in the theatre themselves. They can also be operated completely wirelessly from a rechargeable battery pack mounted in the base. This facility allows them to be easily and freely moved around in the busy operating theatre.
