Ashworth College announced today that it will be expanding its undergraduate program to include Certificates. The 14 new certificate programs will join Ashworth’s existing Associate and Bachelor’s degree programs.
Comprised of one semester’s worth of undergraduate level courses within a specific area of concentration, Ashworth’s new Certificates will cover the following areas of specialty – accounting, business management, computer information management, construction management, criminal justice, early childhood education, finance, health care management, human resource management, marketing, paralegal studies, psychology, retail management, and security management.
“Undergraduate-
Miller cited other advantages to Ashworth’s certificate program to include supplementing an existing degree or allowing students the opportunity to “test the waters” by completing a certificate program before committing to a degree program.
“Given the current economic state, we are seeing a number of professionals wanting to improve their marketability,”
As a leader in distance education, Ashworth’s programs are built around self-paced study. Compared to brick and mortar institutions, students do not attend classes (on site, conference call, online, etc.) and are not required to participate in group projects. When developing Certificates, Ashworth College considered the perceived rigidity of the standard degree program, as well as cost and time commitments.
“Many of our students have seen their current jobs change as companies downsize. They are being given adding responsibilities regardless of having formal training,” commented Deepa Chadha, Ashworth Director of Degree Programs. “Others are simply looking to move up in their existing careers or switch to an entirely different field in order to keep or find jobs. Regardless of their specific career goals, Ashworth can give them the higher education that will provide the competitive advantage they need.”
