When you sit back and take a long hard look at all the live music happening in and around Massachusetts, you tend to run into that "same sound - different band" over and over again. The "cookie-cutter"
I was pleasantly surprised one night last week while taking in a show at Ralph's Diner in Worcester, Massachusetts. A band with high energy, ripping riffs and enough pure rock 'n' roll to keep me smiling from ear to ear. The band... Switchblade Suicide.
These guys combined the best elements of rock 'n' roll from the 70's, 80's and 90's and churned out a set that never let up! The band from top to bottom was simply refreshing. Their new drummer laid down a solid foundation, while adding hints of funk/jazz in the mix. Geoff on guitar - fantastic! A true rocker in every sense of the word. Dennis on lead vocals blew me away with his great mix of melodic melodies and screams. JJ Ballz on bass held down the bottom with simple, but yet effective playing... unitl the fuse blew during the set. But like true professionals, The Blade kept right on playing until the sound came back on - they never missed a note.
It is only a matter of time before the spotlight finds these guys. Check them out now and get on the bandwagon early - Just maybe they will remember us, the little people.
