Sportspoop.com unleashes its brand of humor to
sports fans across the World Wide Web
FORT MYERS, FLA. (May 27, 2009) -- With daily readership and advertising revenue plummeting at newspapers across the U.S., a new entry into the sports blog community is promising to shake the cobwebs off the stoic journalism industry with its irreverent brand of news, opinion and humor.
Sportspoop.com, a Florida-based website, made its official online debut Wednesday with a full array of updates ranging from timely to tasteless. According to a statement released on the website (http://sportspoop.com), the site's editors have a clear vision for the site, albeit an unusual one.
"It’s everything that we’ve always yearned for in a sports website, only with more humor and gratuitous cleavage photos," the statement read, adding that editors had two goals for the site (with tongues planted firmly in cheeks). "To offer the bare minimum in journalistic integrity, (and) to offer the bare minimum in redeeming social value."
The company's manifesto was published underneath a headline that proclaimed "Congratulations, you've discovered the Internet's most disturbing sports site."
Preliminary plans for the interactive site include numerous general news and opinion updates throughout the day from across the sports spectrum. NFL, NBA, Major League Baseball, NHL and college sports will comprise the majority of content, but no sport shall be spared from the editors' watchful eyes. Entertainment and political news will undoubtedly also receive the Sportspoop.com treatment. Editors also anticipate lively commentary from the site's visitors.
