Founded in 1980 the Miss Teenage California Scholarship Pageant has won numerous awards over the years. In 1997 it was the recipient of two World Association Achievement Awards for Best Industry Service and Best State Pageant. In that same year Frank Lameira, founder of the pageant was an inductee into the Performing Arts Hall of Fame for his contribution to education through the arts.
With no swimsuit or talent competition contestants must rely on other attributes to win the judges over. Contestants are evaluated in the areas of Academic Achievements & Activities, Personality, and Poise & Appearance in Formal Wear. The state pageant is held annually in April. The 2010 state pageant will be held at the Hilton @ Los Angeles Airport, April 23-25, 2010. Produced by Danfranc Productions and led by a talented group of volunteers the pageant emcompasses a three day workwind of activities including meal functions, rehearsals, a preliminary competition which culminates with the crowning of a new Miss Teenage California at the State Finals.
