May 28, 2009 - PRLog -- Philadelphia, PA  – Philadelphia Mayor, Michael A. Nutter, opened a new biodiesel refueling station at the city’s 3033 South 63rd Street Fleet Management facility.  Miniscalco Construction, L.L.C. (Miniscalco Construction) received a special mayoral invitation to the press event as the primary contractor/installer of this first of five biodiesel refueling stations that are proposed as part of the city’s “Greenworks Philadelphia” Plan.  The new fueling station will provide some 240 city vehicles with cleaner burning blended B20 diesel fuel.  City vehicles running on this bio fuel will produce 20% less hydrocarbons and result in a 10% reduction in lifecycle greenhouse gases.

The City of Philadelphia Office of Fleet Management contracted Miniscalco Construction to erect a 10,000 gallon above ground storage tank and fueling station at the site.  Miniscalco Construction began work on the project in early March of 2009.  Working directly with the city’s engineer, Pennoni Associates Inc., Miniscalco Construction had to initially stabilize the tank slab area. Given the unsuitable characteristics of the native soils within tank footprint area, a reinforced, oversized spread slab footing was placed atop stabilized backfill.  Miniscalco Construction performed all construction, piping, mechanical, and electrical and concrete work required for tank installation.  Work was completed on May 27, 2009 in time for the inaugural fueling of the first city fleet vehicle; Mayor Nutter personally dispensed biodiesel into a city fleet vehicle for the press event.
Miniscalco Construction provides full-service contracting and engineering services including both above and underground storage tank installations and removals, environmental remediation, utilities installation including heavy mechanical/industrial installations.  Miniscalco Construction has been a member of The H&K Group Family of Companies since 2006.  For more information on the referenced biodiesel fueling station installation project, Miniscalco Construction, or The H&K Group, please phone 610-2322-4090 or visit http://www.hkgroup.com/.
