Newport, KY – Eisen Marketing Group won three Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Blacksmith Awards during a ceremony honoring Greater Cincinnati’s most successful public relations activities.
All three awards were for Eisen’s work with Neighborhood Foundations, Newport’s public housing division.
The campaign included a name and brand identity change involving the transition from what was known as the Housing Authority of Newport (HAN) into Neighborhood Foundations. Following the development of the new brand, new collateral material and website, ongoing public relations, events, and open houses for properties ensued in the year-long program. The advocacy campaign centered around sharing information with the local and national community to proactively address negative attitudes regarding public housing.
Neighborhood Foundations takes a different approach from stereotypical housing authorities, Eisen president Rodger Roeser explained, “They take dilapidated or vacant areas and develop beautiful houses for sale – which pumps tax dollars into local schools while beautifying neighborhoods. Their philosophy has earned national attention, and residents agree that the program is changing the face of the city and Greater Cincinnati.”
Several months ago Newport was named the Best Comeback City in America.
Neighborhood Foundations deputy director Linda Fields said, “We partnered with EMG to tell our story and create an image that better reflected what we do. We don’t operate in an old-fashioned manner. We take a very personal approach to what we do, to make sure our residents are successful, tax-paying citizens and great neighbors. In all the years we’ve been doing the homeownership program, we’ve never had a problem with a single resident. We infuse tax dollars into the economy, not take them away. We have wonderful residents, beautiful housing and a tremendous team. It was time to tell that story.”
