Indian culture is on lime-light, these days. The popular Eden Park at Cincinnati in U.S, is celebrating the bright 'Butterflies of India' show, continuing till 21st June'09.
The park is home to 6000 marvelous work, spanning over 6000 years. It was built between 1933 to 1937, maintains a Krohn conservatory, known for sensing lush plant life all through out the season. The parks features the exotic cacti, orchids, palms and tropical rain forest plants, nourished with a 20-feet cascading waterfall.
Throwing this prestigious occasion at Krohn and Cincinnati Art Museum, the whole world is saluting India, its rich culture and heritage. Spectators from different parts of the globe are heartily invited to join the members of Indian Community at Greater Cincinnati. The Indian cultural programme starting from noon on the conservatory front lawn will provide the golden opportunity to enjoy the Punjabi Bhangra dance and Gujarati Dandia dance. Besides, the merriment also samples the aroma of delicious Indian cuisines and visitors are welcomed to participate in the various family activities, to be organized. The programme, here will wind up by 1 p.m with joining the procession from conservatory to museum.
The session then follows the a long parade which will include a traditional chariot topped by an elephant topiary. Interestingly, the participants, who will march forward with wearing the Indian traditional attire will receive gift from the organizer.
Furthermore, the museum will open the beautiful butterfly show, wherein 20 performers put effort in “Kolam- A Colorful Sketch of Indian Culture”. It has been learnt of that, Kolam was created by
Kanniks Kannikeswaran, a musician, composer and music educator from Chennai, India. He has been introducing Indian culture through the arts form in Cincinnati and across the U.S. for almost 15 years. The show will begin with the melody music of flute and harp concert following the classical and contemporary Indian music and dance.
The programme holds the theme of the spirit of transformation, just like the different growth-cycle of a butterfly. Kannikeswaran's sole motto of organizing Kolam is to share Indian culture in this growing economic scenario.
