Over three quarters of women (76%) talk to their pet as if it were human and a third (34%) prefer their pet’s company to that of other people.
Rachel Cutler, head of Tesco Pet Insurance says, “Owning a pet can be a very rewarding experience – many people consider their cat or dog to be part of the family and even, as our research shows, their best friend. We also understand that it can be a costly experience. To enable pet owners to manage the costs of their pet insurance, our policies start from £4.50 a month for cats and £8.00 per month for dogs and we don’t change policy conditions as a customer’s pet gets older.”
Whilst it's obvious that pets are a woman's best friend, what isn't so clear is which pets are the favourite - and that's what Tesco are trying to find out with a new Facebook page they've launched.
In order to find the answer to that age old question - "Which is better, cats or dogs?" - Tesco have set up fan pages for each animal on Facebook. They're asking pet-lovers to join one (or both!) to show their support to their favourite pet. If you're a cat lover you can visit http://www.facebook.com/
New Tesco Pet Insurance customers will receive a 35% online discount until 27 May.
