San Diego, CA – Forming letters in kindergarten using play dough or clay can be hard work for kids, but it was especially difficult for one little boy who cried whenever he handled the product. “It took Mark’s teacher and me a week to discover he was sensitive to some of the ingredients in his school’s yellow modeling product,” states mom and President of bluedominoes, inc. Debbie Lindgren. “When I contacted the modeling product company I was informed that the ingredients were confidential. I didn’t realize that art supply products, unlike food products, were not required to list all ingredients.
Debbie didn’t want Mark to feel left out, so she created her own version of dough for him to play with in the classroom. Mark never had a problem with the custom-made dough, and Debbie realized that she had a mission to help other families.
Debbie partnered with entrepreneurial executive Linda Manaster, and they started bluedominoes.com, an online information resource for parents. Having identified a need for safer children's art supplies, Debbie and Linda assembled an expert team to aid in development. The result: they developed a patent-pending formula for their Activity Dough that could be used by all kids, including kids with celiac, autism, ADD/ADHD, allergies, chemical sensitivities and “green kids.”
The product is made from food grade ingredients, is free of the seven most common allergens such as gluten and wheat, uses natural colors, is laboratory-tested to be free of heavy metals such as lead, mercury and arsenic and is free of chemicals such as bromine. Though not legally required, bluedominoes lists all of its ingredients on the package. One of the innovative byproducts of bluedominoes’
