Staunton, VA--July 17th, 18th and 19th are the dates set for the 26th Annual Virginia State Foosball Championships in conjunction with the 8th Annual Thunder in the Mountains Foosball Spectacular, to be held at Byers Street Bistro located at 18 Byers Street in Staunton, Virginia. A portion of the tournament proceeds will go to support AMC Hospice of the Shenandoah and their continuing community efforts and recognition of Hospice care whether it be an individual's emotional, social, and spiritual as well as physical needs.
"We are very excited to bring one of our Bonzini U.S.A. Foosball Tour stops back to the Staunton area," said Cribbs Inc. president Alan Cribbs. "Since 2004 we have been fortunate enough to raise over $9,600.00 for the local Hospice of the Shenandoah with all of these funds going toward the Hospice Shenandoah House, which opened in the fall of 2007. Earlier this year we surpassed $135,000.00 in contributions raised for all our charitable events through the Bonzini U.S.A. Foosball Tour."
"We are excited that the Virginia State Foosball Championship has chosen our organization to support Hospice patients and families in our community for their fund raising efforts." said Tammy Irby, Director of Operations for AMC Hospice of the Shenandoah. "Playing Foosball is a lot of fun as I have witnessed for the past several years at the event and thanks to the Shenandoah Foosball Association, the children that attended Camp Dragonfly, our bereavement camp for children, got to experience foosball as a fun recreational activity from a table borrowed from the association. Who would have thought foosball and Hospice would go together?"
"This is a really great event for the players and an excellent way to help the local community and we are proud to be a part of this annual event!" says Gio Cannata manager of the Bistro. "To be able to have fun while helping such a worthy cause as Hospice of the Shenandoah makes for a great weekend.”
Bonzini U.S.A. Foosball Tour events are gaining national recognition for their efforts in creating a tournament atmosphere that is professionally operated to entertain players and spectators alike. The tournament room will be located in Byers Street Bistro and will offer maximum viewing advantages to all spectators. Players from several states and as far as Canada travel to participate in this event. This event receives national attention, such as the ESPN exposure in 2005.
"We have produced foosball events before at Byers Street Bistro with great success," said Alan. "With 70% of the field expected to be made up of Virginians, we are all well aware of the valuable service Hospice of the Shenandoah provides to the community and I anticipate a great tournament event."
