Global online talent community, TalentTrove.com announced its winner for the Best Cover Band today. The contest was launched to bring new and existing members to the site, while encouraging them to display their musical talents.
Will Sturgeon, a Los Angeles, California resident won first prize for his cover of Fleet Foxes, “White Winter Hymnal.” The contest asked for participants to pay tribute to the musicians that inspired them.
With a majority of the votes, Will and two of his band mates acoustic performance of the song led to their win. Will is a music student in his hometown and is constantly writing and performing new songs. He also produces and records his own material.
TalentTrove.com began offering contests on its Web site in April 2009 and new challenges are issued weekly. Only members of the free site are allowed to partake in the competitions. Money and prizes are awarded to the winner.
