Until the end of May, students can grab their chance and take part in this Europe-wide competition, Milk Power – Drink it up! by uploading an inspiring milk-related photo or give their vote to the best photo already online. The contest is open to students attending primary and secondary schools or any other educational institution in the European Union (up to the age of 20 as of 1st October 2008).
The photo competition, which encourages young people to think creatively about health and nutrition, has already proven to be a success. More than 600 students from all over Europe, including Malta, have already taken up the challenge and submitted their photos on the campaign’s website www.drinkitup.europa.eu. Three winners will be selected by public online voting and awarded a Nintendo Wii system plus accessories.
The newly expanded EU School Milk Programme aims at encouraging students to consume dairy products as part of a balanced diet. The campaign also aims at raising awareness of the availability of EU subsidies to schools and other educational establishments so that they could provide their students with selected milk and milk products.
