The Redundancy Transformations Study recently undertaken by Alternative Futures Research Ltd captures the redundancy experience of more than a thousand British people. One of the common misconceptions dispelled by the study, is that redundancy has a negative and detrimental effect on people’s lives. In fact the opposite is true.
More than two thirds of those surveyed revealed that their lives had changed for the better after they were made redundant and more than over half (53%) of British people who’ve experienced redundancy now say that, looking back, it was the best thing that ever happened to them. Eight out of ten (80%) of those who’d seen their lives improve said that redundancy was the spur for them to make some major changes in their lives.
The results of this study are revealed for the first time in a new book, Overcoming redundancy: 52 inspiring ideas to help you bounce back from losing your job which is being published by Infinite Ideas on 17 June 2009.
