Veteran Performer Conducts Master Class at St. Petersburg College

May 25, 2009 - PRLog -- Veteran performer Cornelius White internationally known for his portrayal of “Sportin’ Life” in George Gershwin’s “Porgy And Bess”, and the Grammy nominated recording of Anthony Davis’ “X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X”, will be conducting a vocal master class for the 2009 Summer Vocal Institute at St. Petersburg College.  

The master class will be held on June 23rd at the St. Petersburg/Gibbs Campus Music Center as part of an intensive five-week training and performance program headed by director and faculty member Marilyn Michael.

The program will emphasize operatic arias, musical theater performance, art song in French and Italian and stage movement.  
Mr. White’s master class will cover both vocal performance and a discussion on artistic development.

Mr. White (a graduate of the Hartt College of Music) has performed in Opera, Music Theater, Jazz and Popular genres on some of the world’s great stages including the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro Colon (Buenos Aires), Theatre de Chatelet (Paris), and with many popular performance icons from "New Kids On The Block" to Jazz Singer Guitarist George Benson.  

White has also achieved success in the business world as a project manager of Sales and Marketing for Bellsouth AT&T, where he was awarded the 1999 “In The Company Of Leaders”  Award.

The master class is free to the public and will be approximately two and a half hours.
