Real Estate Staging Association Hosts “June Bloom” 2009 Staging Show House Event for Charity

The New Jersey chapter of the Real Estate Staging Association (RESA NJ), the member-run trade organization for professional stagers, announced today that it has partnered with the Coldwell Banker Warren-Watchung office to stage a $2.59 million show house in Watchung which will be open to the public on selected days from June 6 through June 21.  Proceeds from the event will benefit Morris Habitat for Humanity and Watchung Schools.

The show house is Gallowae Manor, a spectacular new colonial home at 105 Gallowae in the Burnheade neighborhood of Watchung.  “The classic elegance of Gallowae Manor makes it a perfect choice for home staging,” said realtor Susan Tucker.  The 7,200-square-foot custom colonial is the last new home planned for Burnheade.  It provides the warmth of tradition with luxurious appointments throughout, from the hand-carved mahogany front door to the 700-bottle wine cellar and media room on the finished lower level.

Members of RESA NJ will decorate the home, using furniture generously donated by American Furniture Rental, to showcase their home staging talents and to demonstrate how staging a home for sale can generate buyer interest, especially in a sluggish housing market.  “The object of staging is to set the scene throughout the house, showing how each space might work for the family considering living in the home.  Our goal is to create spaces with the widest appeal, while accentuating the property’s best features,” says RESA NJ president Juliet Johnson of Juliet Johnson Staging. She adds, “Staging is especially effective in vacant homes, because the furnishings give buyers a better sense of room size and scale.” Realtor Jane Cole recommends staging to her clients. “Even in today’s real estate market, staging can dramatically reduce the number of days a home is on the market and increase the sale price; it’s a real advantage.”  Seminars on staging and related topics will be conducted periodically as part of the show house activities.
   
Nine New Jersey staging firms will participate in the show house:  Attention2Detail of Leonia; Best in Showing.com of Westfield; Bungalow Home Staging and Redesign of Nutley; Exclusively Staged, LLC of Sparta; First Impression Staged Homes, LLC of Morristown, Happily Better After Room Redesign & Home Staging of Willingboro; Juliet Johnson Staging of Short Hills; Profit by Staging of Millstone Township, and Staged Homes New Jersey, LLC of Holmdel. “We thought this would be a natural fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity and the surrounding community,” says Johnson. “So many people need basic, decent housing, and if we can raise money by letting people see how staging transforms this magnificent home, we’re happy to do it.”  She adds, “The support of Stone Creek Developers, Coldwell Banker’s Warren-Watchung office, and American Furniture Rental has been phenomenal, and we truly appreciate it. We’re looking forward to a fabulous event that will beautifully illustrate the difference between home staging, model home décor, and interior design.”

The show house will open on Thursday, June 4 with a private luncheon for realtors, to be followed on Friday, June 5 by an opening reception for the press, realtors and special guests.  The house will be open to the public from June 6 through June 21 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.  It will also be open on Monday, June 15 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm as a special fundraiser for the Watchung Borough Parent Teacher Organization and Watchung Education Foundation.  The suggested donation to tour the home is $5.00.  For more information about the event, please visit www.junebloomshowhouse.com.
