Get a great start with a taste of food and art in University Heights on Sunday, September 20, 2009 from noon to 5 p.m. at the 4th annual University Heights Arts Open. This year, the event is a collaborative effort with the University Heights Community Development Corporation (UHCDC) Taste of University Heights, which means more of what University Heights already has to offer: fun, food, and art!
First, stroll through the quaint neighborhood enjoying sample delicacies from some of University Heights diverse restaurants. Then, enjoy a free self guided tour of the arts. The UH Arts Open (UHAO)showcases the works of over 100 new as well as celebrated artists, playwrights, performers and musicians from the San Diego region enlivening the historic University Heights community. The UHAO incorporates local businesses, schools, churches, theaters, and a free shuttle tour of over twenty artist studios in the area.
Trolley Barn Park will feature visual artists of all mediums including painting, photography, art glass, sculpture, jewelry, and mixed media, as well as historic groups, community groups, and children’s activities.
A complimentary color program of the Taste and UHAO exhibits —including participating restaurants, artwork, and a walking/shuttle tour map-- will be available throughout San Diego and on the day of the event at information booths and online at www.UHarts.org. Free shuttle service will assist visitors on their Taste and artist studio tour throughout the day.
