Taste of University Heights/ 4th annual UH Arts Open

The University Heights Arts Open is one-of-a-kind event that celebrates art in all its forms, and doesn't charge you a penny. Visitors can visit studios, check out exhibitions, and watch performances.

PR Log (Press Release)May 22, 2009 – Get a great start with a taste of food and art in University Heights on Sunday, September 20, 2009 from noon to 5 p.m. at the 4th annual University Heights Arts Open. This year, the event is a collaborative effort with the University Heights Community Development Corporation (UHCDC) Taste of University Heights, which means more of what University Heights already has to offer: fun, food, and art!  

First, stroll through the quaint neighborhood enjoying sample delicacies from some of University Heights diverse restaurants. Then, enjoy a free self guided tour of the arts. The UH Arts Open (UHAO)showcases the works of over 100 new as well as celebrated artists, playwrights, performers and musicians from the San Diego region enlivening the historic University Heights community. The UHAO incorporates local businesses, schools, churches, theaters, and a free shuttle tour of over twenty artist studios in the area.

Trolley Barn Park will feature visual artists of all mediums including painting, photography, art glass, sculpture, jewelry, and mixed media, as well as historic groups, community groups, and children’s activities.

A complimentary color program of the Taste and UHAO exhibits —including participating restaurants, artwork, and a walking/shuttle tour map-- will be available throughout San Diego and on the day of the event at information booths and online at www.UHarts.org. Free shuttle service will assist visitors on their Taste and artist studio tour throughout the day.

Presented by the UH Community Development Corporation and the University Heights Art Association, in partnership with, UH Community Association, El Cajon Blvd Business Improvement Association, Swedenborgian Church of San Diego, Save Our Heritage Organisation, UH Recreational Council, UH Historical Society, Diversionary Theatre and the Athenaeum.

When: September 20, 2009 from noon-5pm
Where: Arts Open & Taste ‘will call’ begins at the Old Trolley Barn Park: 2000 Adams Ave/Florida St. San Diego, CA 92116
Cost: Taste tickets:$15 in advance/$20 day of event and includes a raffles with prizes.
         UH Arts Open: FREE
Tickets are limited, so purchase before the event sells out.
