Sidney Crosby, Muhammad Ali and Arnold Palmer Help Fight Parkinson’s

PR Log (Press Release) – May 22, 2009 – Halifax, Nova Scotia –More than 40 celebrities have signed/designed dinner plates to be auctioned on eBay to raise money and awareness for Parkinson’s in this year’s Plates for Parkinson’s ® campaign.

Plates from celebrities like The Cast of CSI, Alanis Morissette, Malcolm Gladwell, Joan Rivers, Dennis Rodman, Hilary Duff, Peter Facinelli and Nickelback are available for bidding until Sunday May 24, 2009.

Celebrities are asked to draw a tulip, the Society’s symbol of hope.  

Parkinson’s affects more than 1.2 million people in Canada and the United States. There is no known cause or cure for the condition, although extensive research is currently underway. Symptoms include difficulty walking, weakness of voice, and tremors.

Funds raised through Plates for Parkinson’s ® help The Parkinson Society Maritime Region ease the burden and find a cure for Parkinson’s through support services, education, research and advocacy.
