Tulsa, OK -- Home For Pet’s website has officially launched and is seeking early adopters while in the beta phase. The website (www.homeforpet.org)
“It all started with a thought I had about how the economy is effecting families and how difficult it must be to give up a pet.” Said Ben Bennett, co-founder of Home For Pet. “The idea stuck in my mind and I finally got a hold of Jeff and asked him if he was game for it. After many long nights and weekends spent developing the idea, getting feedback, and building the website, here we are.”
The basic function of the site is to allow a person or family seeking a home for their pet to submit a free “pet listing” through the website. Their listing is placed along side others into an email blast that goes out to members of the HFP community who are looking for a pet. The listing is also placed in an “online pet finder” which offers tools for HFP members to find available pets based on various characteristics, such as pet type, breed, age, sex, and more. A person who finds a pet directly contacts the pet owner to work out the details of the exchange. Combining the power of social networking with email blasts and an online pet finder, HFP has made finding a homes for pets a fun, simple, and rewarding process.
The service allows vet clinics, shelters, breeders, etc. to submit listings on the site as well. There is no cost to become a member, to submit a pet listing, or to find a pet. “Keeping this service free, fun, and easy to use is the key to it’s success” commented site co-founder Jeff Foster. “I think we both just hope this service helps people out more than anything else.”
HFP will offer in the coming week a free downloadable widget for people, shelters or clinics that have multiple listings, to place a widget in a bolg or their own website that contains all of their listings based on the preferences they set. For more information about the site or to contact Home For Pet, visit www.homeforpet.org.
About HFP: Home For Pet is an online connector of people and pets. HFP works to connect pet owners who can no longer keep their pets with people who are willing and able to offer a loving home. HFP is neither a shelter nor a vet. HFP is an online connector of people and pets.
Home For Pet offers a periodic email blast containing a list of pets that are in need of a loving home. If a person wishes to provide a home to one of the pets they can respond directly to the pet owner, who's information is included in the email. Or if a person knows someone who might be able to provide a good home, they can pass the information along by email or using various social network sharing tools.
The hope with HFP is to facilitate an online community of people who share a common desire to find loving homes for pets. At HFP, we understand how difficult it is for people to give up their loved ones so we offer our services free of charge making it fun and easy to avoid having to consider more difficult or less appropriate alternatives.
