Ithaca, NY -- Unable to find jobs amid the economic recession, Matt Ackerson and Angel Villages, who are about to graduate with their bachelors of science from Cornell University, have relaunched their local coupons website, Scrimple (http://www.Scrimple.com). They have expanded the website's directory listings to include over half a million businesses spread across 800 locations.
The Scrimple website is user-driven. It allows users who sign up to select their favorite businesses and locations from which they would like to receive coupons. The deals and discounts are delivered via text message and email based on a user's preferences. The website currently has over two-hundred users signed up.
"There couldn't be a better time for us to be starting this company," said Matt, Scrimple's Co-Founder and CEO. "With the economy going to hell consumers are looking to save money and local businesses are looking for innovative ways to motivate customer spending. It just makes sense and it's a great example of 'permission marketing.'"
Scrimple will continue to expand its directory listings to new cities and towns in the coming weeks. In the near future the company will be adding additional features (such as the ability for users to opt-in to receive coupons for particular categories of local products or services) and a plethora of printable coupons from affiliates and merchants for users. Concurrently, the Scrimple team plans to roll out a dashboard for business owners to control and track their coupon campaigns.
