PS Murray Princess, South Australia
This offer is available on all Captain Cook's three, four and seven-night Murray River cruises in the period June to August 2009. During South Australia's (http://www.southaustralia.com) mild winter months, when the average temperature ranges from 15 - 20 degrees centigrade, the Murray River attracts an amazing array of Australian wildlife and over 350 species of birds. Activities include nature walks, eco-tours and a backwater tour to learn about the ecology of the river. Each day there are trips to historic ports, sacred Aborginal sites, a sheep station and woolshed, and a native wildlife shelter.
The PS Murray Princess was specially built to cruise the River Murray with no more than 120 passengers. The size of the ship means it can cruise to destinations not overun with visitors, offering passengers the chance to interact with locals in order to discover how the river plays a vital role in their everyday lives.
The river, lined with mallee scrub, red gum forests and century old stone causeways, passes through spectacular scenery including towering limestone cliffs and picturesque gorges. This region is also famous for its delicious food and wine and guests will enjoy tastings at a number of vineyards and cellar doors, and in the evening, an Aussie-style campfire barbecue on the river bank.
PRICES
- The three-night 'Discovery Cruise' departs Fridays at 4.30pm with prices starting from AUS$775 (approx £388) for the first person and from AUD$388 (approx £194) for the second person.
- The four-night 'Outback Heritage Cruise' departs Mondays at 4.30pm with prices starting from AUD$1033 (approx £517) for the first person and from AUD$517 (approx £259) for the second person.
- The seven-night 'Murraylands & Wildlife Cruise' departs Fridays and Mondays at 4.30pm with prices starting from AUD$1,596 (approx £798) for the first person and from AUD$798 (approx £399) for the second person.
All cruises depart from Manumm, just over an hour from Adelaide, and prices include all meals, accommodation, most tours, scenic coach transfers from Adelaide or onsite car parking and all onboard facilities including use of two spas, two saunas, sun deck, two bars, two lounges, single sitting dining saloon and entertainment.
