San Diego, CA−Local singer, and entrepreneur Floyd A. Smith will perform with the six time Grammy Award Winners The 5th Dimension May 22-24, 2009 at Disney World Orlando FL. The group best known for hits like Aquarius, One Less Bell to Answer, Up, Up, and Away, Stone Soul Picnic, and many more.
Floyd joined The 5th Dimension in late 2008 replacing Michael Minshaw as the Lamonte McLemore replacement as their new bass singer. As of April 2009, the group is actively touring as "The 5th Dimension", led by Florence LaRue with Willie Williams, Leonard Tucker, Patrice Morris, and Floyd Smith.
In the late 70’s Floyd formed a group called Satisfaction with friends from Lincoln High School. The group, well known for delivering outstanding, old school and R & B harmony, went on to receive many accolades including winning Chuck Barris Production’s Best Act of the Year Award in 1980 and a recording project produced by Ray Parker Jr. and Ollie Brown. Floyd has performed with Café Soul Productions as the bass singer for the Temptations belting out that incredible bass baritone sound. A legendary entertainment promoter for over 30 years in southern California Floyd owned a string of nightclubs like Cynds, Backstage Live, Bogey’s Night Club, and presently Legends Night Club.
