The record in question is for the most ascents in one day of the legendary Grouse Grind of Grouse Mountain, BC. The current record of 12 is shared by Jason Chong and Sebastian Albrecht. Sebastian's goal on June 22nd is to achieve 13 ascents, and raise $10,000.
For every Grind ascent less than 12 Sebastian will donate $500 of his own money to the cause. In addition, every donation made will be entered to win a brand new 8 gb Ipod Nano.
All money raised will be donated to the Shelter Foundation, a charity devoted to protecting women and children from domestic abuse. Sebastian feels passionately that every one of us should have a safe home that is free of fear, and for that reason he has chosen to support the Shelter Foundation.

More about the RLP Shelter Foundation
The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation is the largest public foundation in Canada dedicated exclusively to ending violence against women and children. Royal LePage pays the costs of administration so that 100% of all money and effort goes toward helping local shelters and supporting violence-prevention programs.
Every year we donate more than $1 million through agent contributions, the generous support of our brokers and the fundraising activities of the Royal LePage network. Royal LePage real estate agents have raised more than $7 million since 1999.

What is the Grouse Grind?
The 2.9km trail was initially established by local mountaineers as a convenient, intense off-season workout. While it often feels as though the trail goes straight up, it's average grade is 30 degrees...giving it the nickname of "mother nature's stairclimber"
