Touring Beijing's Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City With Your Phone For Free

Geogad has just released its free self-guided multimedia tour of Beijing's Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City. This free tour can be loaded onto mobile devices or streamed to mobile phones and Google Android smartphones.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)May 20, 2009 – Beijing's Tian'anmen Square and Forbidden City are must-see attractions for travelers, and Geogad has just made them even easier to explore with the release of its latest Mobile Tour of Beijing's Tian'anmen Square and Forbidden City. Travelers can use the latest technology, either mobile media players, mobile phones or GPS-enable Android smartphones, to explore the most important sites of Old Beijing and discover what it was like to live within the palace as the emperor, his wife and a servant. The easy-to-follow tour starts at Tian'anmen Square, where it spends time discussing the formation of the modern Chinese state. As the traveler moves north and deeper into the Forbidden City, the tour explains many acsepts of the palace and its history, such as the psychological and feng shui principles on which the palace was designed and the people who used to call the palace their home. Travelers are introduced to Yongle, the powerful emperor who built the Forbidden City in only 13 years. They also meet later emperors whose reigns span over two different imperial dynasties. The included maps and audio directions make it easy for travelers to find their way through the many courtyards and twisting corridors of the palace. Geogad's Mobile Tour of Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City contains almost two hours of audio narration, detailed maps and dozens of photos. Best of all, this tour, like all of Geogad's tours, are free.

Travelers can view Geogad's Mobile Tour of Beijing's Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City from the Geogad website at http://www.geogad.com. They can also download the tour to their favorite mobile media players. Travelers with mobile phones with built-in web browsers can stream the tour from Geogad's mobile site at http://m.geogad.com. Travelers with smartphones that run the Google Android operating system can view the tour over Geogad's Android application, which includes GPS capabilities and detailed maps.

Working like an always-on, easy-to-understand tour guide, this new Geogad Mobile Tour has already done the hard work of researching Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City for the busy traveler. Travelers don't have to read through guide books or pay for expensive tours. Thanks to Geogad, all the travelers need are the mobile devices that they already carry with them, and they are ready to explore this fascinating part of Beijing's and China's history.
