The star studded event to be held at 7pm on June 15 at The Old Bar in the University of Leeds’ student union, will see celebrity memorabilia go under the hammer, including a signed Simon Cowell photograph, a signed script from the cast of Coronation Street, signed items from Dermot O’Leary, a Jose Mourinho signed shirt and a Madonna picture disk, to name just a few items up for grabs.
Since the girls changed their names by Deed Poll with The Legal Deed Service two weeks ago, they have received endless media attention and signed a glossy magazine deal, but the trio have decided to put all of the fees made to good use.
Gemma True Blue Strike A Pose Carroll McHale Dawson Me Me Mitchell, said, “We originally changed our names as a bit of a joke, but now we are in the media spotlight we are keen to create some good from it by raising money for charity. It made sense for us to give all of the money we make to ‘Raising Malawi’, Madonna’s chosen charity.”
Jamie Jackson at The Legal Deed Service said, “We heard that the girls were planning to do some good with the media coverage they have been receiving, so I spoke to Christine Hamilton (who also changed her name with us earlier this year) and she agreed to speak to some of her contacts to get some signed items for the auction. It is great that we have been able to help the girls in this way.”
Also up for grabs is a Harvey Nichols manicure and champagne, Radio Aire signed pictures, Leeds Rhinos signed merchandise, a free room at diffusion karaoke, a meal for four at Ramada Parkway and two free tennis lessons. Helped by a number of firms in the city of Leeds including Richardson & Co solicitors, Steve Morley Travel and The Leeds Golf Centre, the girls are still gathering items ahead of the event and have even managed to get the help of Gary Don to auction off the items to the highest bidder.
