May 20, 2009 - PRLog -- Methuselah Foundation, a leader in incubating and funding innovation to extend healthy human life, has expanded its mission.  The new 3-part strategy offers short, mid and long term solutions.  The short term initiative focuses on the “power of community” to get and share tips to help overcome life threatening illnesses.  The mid term strategy offers prizes for increasing and extending the lifespan of mice.  The long term strategy funds pioneering research and development of life extension solutions.

The 3 Part Strategy was recently featured on a segment of the news on KTLA TV in Los Angles, CA.  http://www.ktla.com/news/extras/ktla-live-forever-video,0,5314454.worldnowvideo

Tips4Life, the Foundation’s near term approach, provides a highly interactive environment for anyone who has overcome a major health crisis to share information and ideas.  Developed by Roger Holzberg, 5-year cancer survivor and Chief Marketing Officer/Creative Director of the Methuselah Foundation, it is a rapidly growing global database of real world wisdom.  Experienced caregivers like Carol Lin (video available)  offer tips to those providing care for a family member or friend.

The mid-term strategy offers incentives to inspire radical breakthroughs in new life extension therapies.  The MPrize awards two cash prizes, one for the research team with the longest living mouse and another for the team that develops the most successful late-onset rejuvenation of mice.  A picture of Charlie, a mouse who lived 1551 days, is available at http://www.methuselahfoundation.org/index.php?pagename=re....

The Methuselah Foundation created MLife Sciences, its long term strategy, to fund research that challenges the unintended biochemical side-effects of metabolism: cellular and molecular damage, loss of functionality, health, resilience and vitality – lead to age-related frailty, disability, disease, and ultimately death.  According to Dave Gobel, founder, “The Methuselah Foundation will continuously and vigorously scan the horizon for high impact efforts that deliver to all the extension of healthy human life and the elimination of the diseases of aging.”  Three groundbreaking companies are currently being supported by the Foundation.
