Stilton production has been taken out of derbyshire and moved to leicestershire following a buy out of dairy crest's creamery in hartington village.
The duke of devonshire opened the creamery in 1875 and stilton has been produced in hartington since its closure last month.
Derbyshire has lost its only stilton producer in the county - only derbyshire, nottinghamshire & leicestershire can make stilton.
The peak district national park is drawing up a 'master plan' for regenerating the closed creamery & we believe keeping hartington stilton alive should be part of any plan. Probably on an artisan level.
