Elephants On The Wall Donates a Paint-By-Number Wall Mural To Five Acres!

Eager to bring some joy and happiness to the lives of children, Elephants On The Wall, an Altadena, California-based design company, donated a completed paint-by-number wall mural to Five Acres, a child and family services agency.

PRLog - May 19, 2009 - CALABASAS, Calif. -- Los Angeles)- Eager to bring some joy and happiness to the lives of children, Elephants On The Wall, an Altadena, California-based design company, donated a completed paint-by-number wall mural to Five Acres, a child and family services agency.  Patti Newton, owner of Elephants On The Wall, presented the colorful, pirate-themed mural to the agency.  The mural will be mounted on the wall of the auditorium for everyone to enjoy.

Five Acres, The Boys' and Girls' Aid Society of Los Angeles County, is a child and family services agency that strengthens families and prevents child abuse through treatment and education in community-based and residential programs. Originally founded as an orphanage in 1888, today Five Acres offers an array of services including residential care and education, mental health services in homes and schools, foster care and adoptions, and domestic violence prevention.

“It was when we decided to participate in the Baby & Tween Celebration LA Expo that we realized what a wonderful opportunity it would be to allow show attendees to add their own special artistic contribution to the mural we’d later present to Five Acres,” explained Newton.

“During our demonstration on just how easy it is to paint a professional-looking mural, we had moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, and of course kids, all adding their very own special touch to the mural,” says Newton, a former Disney artist. “It was fun to see the grown-ups painting the higher portions of the mural, and of course the kids painting the lower sections. Everybody really got into the spirit of the project. It’s fun to see what happens when you hand someone a paint brush.”

Newton continued, “One of our contributing “artists” was Latina actress Constance Marie who is best known for her role as Angie on the George Lopez show. Once Constance saw that the mural was being donated to Five Acres, she was happy to put her artistic touch to the mural. We’re honored to have Marie’s contribution.”

The finished mural, although painted by a number of different contributors, looks as though it was painted by a highly-skilled Disney artist. The reason is that the mural uses a paint-by-number method. The pattern & transfer paper are first taped to the wall. Then the design is traced onto the wall. Once the paper is removed from the wall, all that is left to do is to fill in the areas with the recommended colors of paint. The process is similar to coloring in a coloring book.

Elephants On The Wall offers a large variety of mural designs and themes. They offer designs, from Jungle Animals to Silhouettes, Cowboys to Dinosaurs, Fairy Wonderland to Princess & Castles, Sports to Underwater Antics to Woodland Critters. Elephants On The Wall also produces custom murals to make the child’s room extra special. Their custom designs can match existing bedding and color schemes, fit unique shaped rooms, and fit around furniture, windows and doors.
