American Nurse Today wins 3 prestigious ASHPE awards

American Nurse Today, the official journal of the American Nurses Association (ANA), has received three awards—gold, silver, and bronze—from the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors (ASHPE).

ASHPE recognizes outstanding editorial excellence and achievement in healthcare publications. The annual competition provides an opportunity for editors to measure their efforts and publications against the best the healthcare sector has to offer.

Gold award for Best Case History
“Applying a systematic approach to new-product assessment”  by Janice Tootle, RN, MHA. Ms. Tootle described a step-by-step process for assessing technology to control costs and keep patients safe.

Preventing and treating osteoporosis, cover design by David Beverage. This dynamic cover highlighted the article “Stopping the silent progression of osteoporosis” by Adrienne Beraducci, PhD, ARNP, BC, CCD.

Bronze award for Best How-to Article
“Infants in peril: Assessing sepsis in newborns” by Lori Bass Rubarth, PhD, RNC, NNP. The author described how nurses could use the new Newborn Scale of Sepsis, which she developed, to detect sepsis.
