This is a beautiful sterling silver basket or bowl by Bailey, Banks & Biddle in gorgeous decorative design. This rounded, rectangular basket stands on a plain, rounded, rectangular footring and has an undecorated interior with deep sides that are intricately pierced with a sunburst and fan motif with geometric decoration. There is a band of geometric medallions around the rim which is finished with a beaded border. This basket is in excellent condition and has been finely crafted from heavy gauge silver. It measures approx. 3 7/8" high, approx. 12" long, 9 ½” wide, and weighs 22.5 troy ounces. It is marked under the base with the maker's mark of Bailey, Banks & Biddle, the word Sterling, pattern number 416, and is engraved with the initials G.J.B and the inscription 1860 June 5th 1885.
