SeeJoeRock Launches to Support the Independent Music Scene

For all the aspiring unsigned, independent musicians, solo artists, bands, songwriters and the industry professionals that are in search of new talent, there is now an exciting online community that focuses solely on them. SeeJoeRock (www.seejoerock.com) was officially launched on April 7, 2009 and claims close to 200 active members in one short month. The site is free of charge and provides musicians, artists, and bands a platform to showcase themselves and their music. In addition, there is a section for “FANS”; those who are in search of new music or follow the independent music scene to sign-up so they can keep track of their favorite artists, new songs as they are released or where the artist might be playing. Industry professionals including promoters, managers, recording studios, radio stations and venues seeking talent can also register in the “PRO” category to connect with new artists, bands and musicians, other industry pros or to even showcase their own services.

SeeJoeRock is the creation of Mary Adkins, a graphic designer and owner of a highly successful and growing graphics design firm; GraphixStation (www.graphixstation.com). She and art are intertwined - whether through design or music. She has been involved in music one way or another all her life and seemed always to be surrounded by musicians. Ms. Adkins stated, “It’s just another part of my DNA that makes me who I am.” After watching an episode of American Idol a little over a year ago and seeing how much undiscovered talent there was out there and how hard it was to be discovered, an idea started to formulate as how to create a website to help talent get ‘discovered.’ Her research uncovered the fact that there was next to nothing out there that focused on undiscovered musicians. Thus, on January 17, 2008 SeeJoeRock was born! Adkins commented, “I wanted to give musicians a place to showcase themselves in every way possible; from posting their bios and photos to their MP3’s and videos.

The name SeeJoeRock stands for “Joe” representing the average person; “rock” because  that’s what people say that when they think you’re really good at something and “see” because the site focus on being able to post videos so the artist is ‘seen’ and heard. The target audience for the site is really anyone who loves music or loves to create music. Unsigned, undiscovered and independent musicians, bands, solo artists and songwriters who are looking for more exposure, a place to showcase their music (a new artist is featured every two weeks) or growing their fan base. In addition, artists can post status updates about their music, connect with other artists to have a conversation, post want ads and network with industry professionals.
